Nigerian Senate after screening, unanimously confirmed Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria on Wednesday, March 1.
Onnoghen was born on the 22 December 1950 at Okurike Town, Biase local government area of Cross Rivers State. He has been a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 2005.
Onnoghen during the senate said the Judiciary is not the last hope of the common man, but the last hope of every man.
He had been acting since November following the retirement of Justice Mahmud Mohammed.
The National Judicial Council (NJC) recommended Onnoghen for the CJN seat in November.
