The body led by Dr Nkechi Asogwa on a 3 days medical and skill acquicision outreach to Benin IDP camp said their focus is on family health with special interest on women and children health within the family.

According to her, " We got involved in helping victims of Boko Haram insurgency since 2015.

" The victims we saw on the news informed and aroused our attention for this show of supports. All the painful and sad stories touched our heart's as responsible citizens.  And as medical practitioners, we are moved to put in our little support to help this fellow brothers and sisters to live a normal life which they have been deprived of without no fault of theirs," she declared.

On the 3days outreach programme, she disclosed that they were basically on the visit to treat those that are atteasily treated, saying: " Like Malaria, gastrol respiratory track infection and those cases that are beyond our medical items we refer them to the teaching hospital like University of Benin Teaching Hospital for prompt attention".

We taugh them special skills such as cake baking, making of chinchin, and puff puff.

To her, " The essence is that they could make some of these things and sell to make some monies to assist themselves and the children. Our plans is to start with 5 persons we have trained among the number then make provision for soft loans for them as a take off grant.

"We also had students from Lagoon Secondary and Maryland Comprehensive High Schools who also took some time out to lecture some of the pupils in their various classes.

"It was indeed a packful sort of session as they recounted beautiful experiences they had in the classes with the students. They told me their eagerness to learn and interest for education is a big kudos to the centre.

On the special case of a young boy of I6 years who got healed miraculously after he was diagnosed of having a broken fimor, she said," we were really concerned about him because he was just 16 years old.

" He broke the head of the fimor in the process of running away from the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents. And we really felt sorry for him because we thought he needed urgent help. So, we started raising funds through friends to assist him to carry out the surgery. And we were told when we visited the camp this year that miraculously he has been healed.

" As a medical professional, I was amazed. I could not believe it until I saw him myself beaming with smiles and walking freely. He was walking without any pain whatsoever. It is surprising that even when they took him to University of Benin Teaching Hospital where the first diagnosis first came out from, and the money raised was exhausted and he had to returned to the camp for lack of funds,  trusting in God and now he can walk without feeling any pain. And he look like miraculously he has been healed. And so, we are very happy with his case as God has designed it to be.

She however used the opportunity of the outreach to appeal to walk meaning Nigerians to come to the aides of these special group of persons needing their assistance, noting that, " We had several other cases here requiring surgery and surgical intervention.

"And they don't have the money for it. It will be wonderful if we'll to do Nigerians with means can come in and assist them though not forgetting the efforts of; Emzor Pharmacytical, who provided lots of the drugs, we are using, Health Plus Pharmacytical, who also donated some of the drugs we are using, Novo Health Pharmacytical and God is Good Motors who provided transportation for us from Lagos to Benin. We are really grateful for their help and assistance as it has made our work very easy," she reiterated.

The group further disclose that  as part of their vision for the future whose major concern is health of the family, their plan is to have quarterly health outreach in the DIP camp in Benin and Yola.

Continuing, she maintained: " Those are the 2 main places (camps) we have been and we hope to be there, Yola, in April, 2017, to also carry out the same exercise we have done here in Benin as part of our support for family health 'Doctors Health'.

Mrs Nkechi commend the government. And also some  young Germans she saw reiterating her resolved that, " You dont have to come to us to help. I was impressed seeing the young Germans trying to help. If a foreigner can do that, can't we do more for our people and fellow Nigerians?," she asked.

The Pastor in charge of the  IDP camp seized the opportunity to thanked the group Doctors Health Initiative for the efforts and all the assistance they have been rendering saying that only God can reward them for all their efforts.

There are 3500 persons in the camp.

We spent #5oo thousand all in all trying to in carrying out these health support outreach to the IDP.
