Edo police to prosecute suspected homosexuals

Two years after the Same S.ex Prohibtion Act was signed into law, men of the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command has arrested two suspected homosexuals identified as Osa Igbinosun and Nosakhare Amusa and sources said they would soon be prosecuted once investigation is concluded.
The two suspects were arrested and being investigated by the anti-cultism section of the Command.
 
The two have been described as a perpetual and unrepentant homosexuals in the state. Reports revealed that Igbinosun has been engaging in the gay activities for over a decade where so many men have been lured into his net.

Investigation revealed that, the suspect named one Monday Osamwonyi Izekor as his firstpartner over a decade ago and that Izekor was earlier apprehended by the people of Evbuotubu community where they engaged in the homosexual act and was handed over to the police for prosecution where he then escaped from lawful custody and yet to be seen.‎

Other accomplices also named by the suspect as his partners will be made to face the full weight of the law, police source said.

If found guilty, Osas Igbinosun and his accomplice risks a 14 year jail term for Homosexual activities. The law is currently in the Nigeria criminal code as passed into law by the National Assembly and assented to by the president of Nigeria.

The State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu warned that any form of homosexual activities would not be tolerated in Edo State.
